We are approaching the end of summer, the beginning of fall, and an abundance of emotions tend to surface during this time of the year. Our schedules change, creating more or less time to accomplish all we set out to do in a day. Daylight shortens our days, kids go back to school, the weather gets colder, we tend to have more commitments with school activities, parties, holidays and somehow, we pressure ourselves to get it all done. And then, amongst all this, we want to get our work outs in, our quiet time for mental health, and social time with friends and family. Seems impossible. And you know what, it probably is. We aren’t superhuman so why do we create a “to-do” list like we are?

How do you muster up enough energy to get through your day? How do you manage your crazy schedule? How do you find time for your mental, physical, and emotional health amongst everything that HAS to get done? Please note, you can’t give from an empty cup, and you can’t sprint a marathon. I know, I’ve tried both things. It wears you out and creates anxiety and negative emotions that add to your already overloaded mind. Here is what I suggest in helping increase your energy and clear your mind. Schedule, like you would a doctor’s appointment time, movement and quiet time at least 3 times per week. How often do you cancel a doctor’s appointment? Treat YOUR time the same. Even your doctor will thank you 😊

You can start out with a short amount of time, like 15 minutes and gradually increase your time based on the amazing results you will experience. Attend a group fitness class, access one of our Videos on Demand videos of stretching, meditation or even HIIT, strength or step, whatever your body is craving that day. Do part of the workout or all of it. We have workouts of all different lengths and formats. This is YOUR time. You dictate it. I also recommend the Calm app for meditation, inspiring messages, or gentle music to calm your mind and body. Some messages are just a couple minutes long. I know you can spare a couple minutes a few times per week. And so importantly, drink your water and choose healthy foods to fuel your body. Notice the changes you feel with energy and clarity of mind.

Feeling healthy comes from exercise, good nutrition, strong mental health, and hydration. Take care of yourself so you can take care of others in a calm, successful way. Trust me, the empty cup, sprinting a marathon scenario doesn’t work for very long.  Start this season with scheduling time for your mental, physical, and emotional health. What do you have to lose? Stress and anxiety!
