Fitness Adherence

It’s March, friends, and have you stayed on track with your fitness goals for 2024, has the track completely disintegrated, or are you jumping over the track to do something else instead? You may find yourself aligning with one of these or somewhere in between. Wherever you tend to land in your fitness adherence, here are some little tips to help you get back on track or stay motivated to continue the track you set out to follow:

  1. Connect with your “WHY”. The reason you are exercising in the first place. Better health, more energy, reduce pain, etc.
  2. Start slow and gradually add time as you feel stronger and accomplished. 10-15 minutes per day can truly make a difference especially if you are just starting to exercise.
  3. Start with an activity you LOVE doing like strength training, walking, dancing, step, boxing, drumming, yoga, etc. Then slowly add the activities you know you need but aren’t so fond of doing like stretching.
  4. Commit to moving with a friend or a group. Community greatly improves fitness adherence, and it allows you time with your special fitness community. Get emPowered Fitness has an amazing fitness community that is so supportive and encouraging.
  5. Play music that motivates and fires you up. It’s amazing what some music or a podcast can do for your workout.
  6. Remember the feeling you get when you are finished. The increase in dopamine and serotonin, the ability to move easier and the feeling of success from accomplishing what you set out to do.

Find one or more of these tips to connect with and allow them to motivate you to get and keep moving. Hang on to the basic fact that you GET to move, where others may not be so fortunate.
