Anti-aging is a hot topic right now. As you scroll through any social media platform, listen to the radio, or watch television, you will find commercials promoting anti-aging products and remedies. As my 61st birthday approaches this month, I asked myself these two questions…
Why don’t I want to age? I believe we all want a young person’s energy, mobility, vibrancy, and strength. As we age, we lose some of those qualities. But I also know, through experience, we gain so much more with age. For example, I can no longer do a back flip on a four-inch wide balance beam, but now I understand the risk involved even for a young person.
How do I prevent aging? I can’t. I began aging at conception, and it will continue until my death. I CAN control and maintain a strong quality of life with hydration, good nutrition, regular fitness training, adequate sleep, and a positive mental attitude. No product taken internally or applied externally will prevent me from aging. None.
I accept my age. I love that I am wiser, comfortable in my own skin, kinder, happier, and ultimately more at peace with my life than I was even 10 years ago. No retail product got me here. My thoughts, faith, movement, and life decisions landed me here. I am perfectly accepting of aging and will continue to embrace it. I hope you can too. Let me know how I can help you get there.
