  • Fitness Goals?

    Fitness Goals?

Lately, I seem to be hearing a lot of chatter around fitness goals. But the common response isn’t about fitness but about appearance. So, I am wondering if Get emPowered Fitness is missing the conversation because our focus is NOT about appearance but about health and well-being. As a 60-year-old former elite athlete, I look at fitness as a holistic practice to create not only physical strength, endurance, flexibility, and mobility, but also mental, emotional, and spiritual strength, endurance, and flexibility. My belief is that “if my head and heart are in the proper space, my body will follow”. I don’t need to LOOK a certain way. I need to be able to DO certain ....

    Dig Deep! by Raeanne

“Dig Deep, you are stronger than you think” is a phrase we use frequently in our group fitness classes. We use this phrase to challenge ourselves physically and mentally. It’s an absolutely true statement. When we dive deep into our inner soul, we are stronger, smarter, and wiser than we give ourselves credit for. But we frequently forget this. When experiencing a moment, a season, or a day of chaos or being overwhelmed, we can dive deep within ourselves to find calm, answers, and peace in what is happening to us externally. You have all you need within you. It’s tapping into the depth of your soul that can be forgotten. So, I invite you over the next ....

  • Fall by Raeanne

    Fall by Raeanne

As the environmental changes of the seasons happen naturally, we too can take a nudge from that and create change in our own lives. With fall’s new colors, coolness, and back-to-routine demands, we can evaluate what the summer gave us and what we want in the upcoming fall. What amazing things did summer bring to your life? Can you carry those amazing things into the fall? What would you like to work on this fall? What goals can you set, plan, and act toward? What habit would you like to break? What new habit would you like to integrate into your daily routine? We all have an abundance of reflections and opportunities. Life is full of wonderful choices. This is a perfect time ....

    Reflection by raeanne

When you look in the mirror, what do you see? The image of your body and WISH you looked differently? Or do you see the beautiful, knowledgeable, compassionate person you are? Do you focus on the external? Or the internal? Or maybe a little of both. I used to only focus on the outside. How big my belly was, how flat my butt was, how crooked my feet are, how broad my chest was. When I look in the mirror now, I see a beautiful child of God, who is physically strong, mentally tough, compassionate, loving, wise and open to growth. It took me some time and practice to get there, but with the right tools you can get there too. I have tools to share with you to help you focus on what is on ....

  • Top of the Staircase

    Top of the Staircase

How do you get to the top of the staircase? I have the personality that when I set a goal for myself or the studio, I want to be laser-focused and get it accomplished. I also know that when that happens, things I need to attend to get left behind and I become impatient if I don’t reach my goal right away. By reflecting on this, I made a connection to a staircase. I stand at the bottom of the stairs looking at my goal on the top of the staircase. I want to take only ONE giant leap to get to the top. I may topple down, get bruised, and be frustrated. I continue a few more times and then may even give up. There goes that goal. Then I began to think that by taking one step at a time ....

  • REST DAYS: Do I need them?

REST DAYS: Do I need them?

No matter what level athlete you are, you need rest. If you workout regularly, move your body for work, tend your garden regularly, or actively play with your kids, YOU need rest. Rest isn’t being lazy or not moving. It’s rebooting, recovering, and resetting your body and mind to become more efficient, and productive. Shift your thoughts to think of rest as time and space to refuel your body, mind, and emotions. Your muscles need time to rebuild. They are broken down with movement and need time to build back up to become stronger and more stable. Too much repetitive movement can create injury or less efficiency from the movement. You want to avoid injury from overtraining or ....

  • What does FREEDOM mean to you?

What does FREEDOM mean to you?

What does FREEDOM mean to you? As we enter the week of 4 th of July, Independence Day, and our Word of the Week is FREEDOM, I am reflecting on what FREEDOM means to me. I am grateful for all the freedoms I have due to the sacrifices of so many others in this wonderful country of ours. I am also aware I take for granted other freedoms. The freedom to move my body freely with minimal pain, to run my business as a woman the way I feel called, to instruct my classes with empowerment, to use my gifts and talents to the best of my ability, and to serve my community in a way that fills my heart. These are just a few of the freedoms I have thought about. I will definitely continue my reflection ....

  • Honor and Respect

    Honor and Respect

How do you train your mind and body? Do you work both physically and mentally to exhaustion then keep pushing through? Our culture teaches us if a little is good, a lot more is better. Rest and slower workouts are a sign of weakness. This is not true. We need time to recover and refuel with stillness, slower movement, stretching, and positivity. Also, much depends on the results you are striving for. Are you preparing for the Olympics or a healthy lifestyle? Here at Get emPowered Fitness Studio, we encourage our emPeeps (emPowered People) to honor and respect their minds and bodies in every moment. Every day is different. We have different needs every day. We focus on training our bodies ....

    PASSION

What are you passionate about? What fuels your fire from within? What warms your heart when you are active in your life? If you don’t know, it’s time to explore and discover this passion from within and act on it. We are given passion for a reason. You are meant to share YOUR passion with others. The world needs your passion right now, not later. How do I find my passion? Reflect on your gifts and talents, and evaluate what warms your heart and fills your energy cup. This is the source of your passion. Take time to be still with these thoughts to create a plan of action to incorporate your passion into your lifestyle. Nothing motivates, inspires, or empowers you more ....

  • PAUSE and THRIVE

    PAUSE and THRIVE

THRIVE This week’s word of the week is THRIVE. Our quote of the week is: “You were meant to THRIVE, not just survive.” Maybe I am writing this just for me, or maybe this will resonate with you as well. It seems like lately, all the meditations, devotions, and words/quotes of the week have exposed to me the same message: PAUSE. I find myself stuck in the whirlwind of busyness again and feel I am being prompted to Pause and Thrive, not just power through and only survive my life. My goal when this happens is to receive these prompts and integrate the message into my life. My intention has been to not just pause at the beginning of my day and reflect at the end of my day, ....
