Manic Monday

We are beginning the last month of 2025 on a Monday. How are you going to begin this last month? How do you perceive Mondays in general? As Manic or Marvelous? The Bangles even made a hit out of their Manic Monday song reminding us Mondays should be manic. Why don’t people like Mondays? Is it because they are coming off a fun weekend and don’t want to get back into routine? Maybe. Thanksgiving

We are quickly approaching the Thanksgiving Holiday, always the 4 th Thursday in November. Most Americans celebrate gathering with either friends or family indulging in a large meal including turkey, stuffing, potatoes, squash, and pumpkin pie. Thanksgiving, the word itself means “an expression of gratitude”. We might start thinking about what we are grateful for as the holiday approaches. Sandpaper

As fitness professionals, we frequently strengthen muscles and connective tissue with resistance training. Whether that be with resistance bands, weights, or our body weight; we break down to build up. Exercises are difficult before they become easy. They are uncomfortable before they become comfortable. It is all part of the process. I think of it as sandpaper. The rough edges of a project need to be resisted and shaped to become smooth and refined. Light Bulb Moment!

I had a light bulb moment many years ago regarding my body. I was in a core workshop session at a conference with Gin Miller, the creator of the Step. After the workshop, I approached her asking how I could get rid of my little pooch in my lower abdominal area. She asked if I had given birth. I replied that I had delivered twins by C-section just a year before. She then asked if this pooch was preventing me from doing anything I wanted to do. I replied no, not really. She encouraged me to look at my pooch as a gift from my twins, especially because I am healthy and it isn’t preventing me from doing anything in my life. This was a game-changer. The Mask

Halloween is approaching quickly, which made me think about costumes, fantasy, and masks. Halloween is a great holiday for us to pretend to be someone we are not. We dress up to be someone other than our authentic selves. I question, “Is Halloween the only opportunity we take to pretend to be someone we aren’t? How often do we wear a mask in our daily lives? Elephant Sisterhood

My husband and I recently vacationed at Walt Disney World. There we experienced Caring for the Giants, a backstage tour of the African Elephants. We were educated in the caring, habits and conservation of these amazing creatures in Animal Kingdom. We witnessed male elephants eating and playing as well as females tending to their young. Wow! It was amazing. We learned so many traits and characteristics of these giant animals. One being the sisterhood of female elephants. They create bonds of protection and support with a circle around one who is vulnerable, hurt or giving birth. This protects the vulnerable from predators. Value the Moment

My mom and daughters have birthdays in August. I was reflecting this morning on how blessed I am to have them in my life and how quickly time has passed with them. Over the past two years, we have celebrated their birthdays with a girls’ trip with just the 4 of us. It has been a magical time sharing new experiences together and creating beautiful memories. I want to hold on to those moments forever. I started thinking about how many wonderful memories I have in my life that I may not have appreciated right away.
